The Library Information Center with a mission

The mission of Maximo’s Library Information Center (LIC) is to support and enhance the curriculum of the school and to provide equal access to information for all students. The Library Information Center is staffed with a professional Library Information Specialist, an assistant, and several volunteers. The LIC staff collaborates with teachers to create lessons, integrate technology, develop information literacy, and promote lifelong learning.

A resource for students

The LIC is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on most school days. Students may visit the LIC during class, lunch, free time, and before and after school (when available). Students also participate in a host of programs offered through the LIC, including Meet the Author, Battle of the Books, and Literary Café. The LIC is equipped with a Computer Center, where students can search for books, research projects, write reports, and work on educational Web sites.

Checking out books

Students are allowed to check-out 2 books for up to 2 weeks with 1 renewal available if needed. Books may be returned to the LIC using the book return, located just inside the door of the LIC. Lost or damaged books must be paid for by the student. Students are not allowed to check out videos or other audiovisual equipment and materials.
