About Maximo Elementary

MicroSociety is a research-based educational program that allows students to transform the school into a miniature community of the real world. Each student has a role in running the society as entrepreneurs and business owners who produce goods and provide services. Teachers integrate these real-world concepts and skills into curriculum and instruction throughout the day.

Other highlights of Maximo include

• Accelerated Reading and Math classes for students in Grade 3 through Grade 5
• 6 to 8 student computer stations in every classroom
• Smart Board Technology in 1st Grade through 5th Garden classrooms
• Mandatory Uniform School
• Unique building design for MicroSociety that resembles a small city, including a Main Street, a Post Office, a Bank, an Art Gallery, and Student classrooms.
• TV and Video Production Studio, live broadcast by students
• Partnerships with Bank of America, USF College of Business, City of St. Petersburg
• 6 mobile student laptop labs
• Math Olympiads, Chess, and Digital Photography Clubs
• Strings and guitar music classes
