Maximo Math Olympiads

The Math Olympiads Program is an Internation

al Math Organization for students, Grade 4 through Grade 8, initiated in 1979. Last year, 150,000 students from 5,000 teams worldwide participated in the Olympiads. All 50 states and 25 countries were represented.

The highlights for students are 5 monthly contests, held from November to March, with no traveling required. The Math Olympiads Club meets weekly, for 1 hour after school. The students explore topics and strategies in-depth, practice for the contests, and play mathematical games to encourage problem solving strategies.

Goals of the Maximo Math Olympiads Program
  • To stimulate enthusiasm for and a love of mathematics
  • To introduce important mathematical concepts
  • To teach major strategies for problem solving and develop mathematical flexibility in solving problems
  • To strengthen mathematical intuition
  • To foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity
  • To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges
